The Blue Toilet Seat

On May 14^th, the Research Racers won the coveted “Blue Toilet award” given to the team who raises the most money for the Crohn’s and Colitis foundation. Thanks to organizations like the CCFA of North Texas, we are getting closer to finding a cure for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). IBD (Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis), is an inflammatory disorder where the body’s own immune system attacks the intestinal tract. This disorder affects more than 1.5 million Americans and the number continues to increase.

I want to thank everyone who walked or contributed money to this great cause. I also want to acknowledge my partners, Dr. Weisberg (co-captain) and Dr. Eidem, who came out to support the Research Racers. We chose the name Research Racers because of our participation in IBD clinical research trials. Through these trials, we help to advance medical knowledge in hopes of someday finding a cure for these diseases. We currently are enrolling patients with Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease in our trials.
